I translated the song “Floden”, originally written by Bjørn Eidsvåg and then later made famous again by Emma Steinbakken when she made her own twist on it on a Norwegian TV show, “Hver Gang Vi Møtes”. Now I took it a step further and translated the song to English, making sure to hold on to the meaning of the song while still finding ways to make it rhyme in English in the same places as the Norwegian version. I hope you’ll like it ! ❤️???????? For those interested, here is the lyrics:

Verse 1
There’s a river that runs, a flood full of force that takes over me
It fills me with softness and peace when I’m wandering through your reeds
And every time that I dare take a dive I get clean and whole
And I feel your softening light shining through all my bones

Chorus
Now I wonder why, why I don’t do it all the time
Tell me, tell me, why I don’t want the good things you do to me
It may seem like I am trying to avoid it from happening
But it scares me death, this mercy and happiness, you drown me in
So wonderful
So wonderful

Verse 2
There’s a well that I know, a source to my life that controls it all
Love is the name and the vision gets clear though the glass is small
And in every sip that I dare take of it I get clean and whole
And I feel your softening light shining through all my bones

Chorus
Now I wonder why, why I don’t do it all the time
Tell me, tell me, why I don’t want the good things you do to me
It may seem like I am trying to avoid it from happening
But it scares me death, this mercy and happiness you drown me in
So wonderful
So wonderful

Bridge
Been wanting to fight the resistance I have for what’s good for me
It’s not wise walking around looking for what I’ve seen

Chorus
Now I wonder why, why I don’t do it all the time
Tell me, tell me, why I don’t want the good things you do to me
It may seem like I am trying to avoid it from happening
But it scares me death, this mercy and happiness you drown me in
So wonderful
So wonderful
